It’s quite amusing and just a touch ironic that one who spends half his life in the form of a cat, is so often quiet as a mouse.
Felix was our first walk-in. Our first entirely unexpected headmate, seeing as we always somewhat wondered if and when Laura would wind up joining our system.
He showed up out of the blue two Christmases ago. From the day we met him, he showed a surprising level of emotional maturity and intelligence. He faced every situation head on, taking time to think and consider his own emotions and stance, and would do his best to be open and understanding with whomever he was talking to.
I’ve always admired that about him.
He’s struggled a bit with his “younger child” status, With having so many older, more established members of the system to contend with, who are well aware of who they are, have established friends, and who don’t need to wonder about what interests them. Thankfully, all of our friends have been exceedingly patient and happy to help him figure himself out along the way.
Felix is a quiet, oft-forgotten little guy in the grand scheme of things. His quiet nature makes it easier for him to be overshadowed by others in the system…
But not a single one of us would change who or what he is. We love, respect, and appreciate him just how he is. Someday he’ll have years under his belt and be confident in precisely who he is, and I look forward to seeing who he is when that day comes.
But in the mean time, I’m just happy to know the him who he is today.
